Teresa Massel di Caresana was the daughter of Federico Massel di Caresana and Luigia Callori di Vignale, and hence a granddaughter of Maria Elisabetta Ferrero della Marmora,“Babet”, Born in 1843, in 1866 she married Luigi Cacherano di Bricherasio. Together they had two children, Sofia and Emanuele. Widowed young in 1871, she would divide her time between the family home in Turin—Palazzo Bricherasio in Via Lagrange—and the summer residences in Fubine and Miradolo.

Teresa shared with her daughter Sofia a passion for art and culture. Documents in the family archive attest to her vivacity and active involvement in the cultural scene, as well as a sharp interest in botany. She sought out from leading horticulturists prized plants for the park in Miradolo, in particular camelias, roses, and magnolias. The decorative elements in the castle from the early twentieth century were also her work. Teresa died in 1923.
