The Historical Wing, the New Wing and the Old Chapel

This hallway leads to two wings of the castle, today known as the Historical Wing and the New Wing, showing along the way signs of the castle’s transformations over time.

The restoration of the Historical Wing in 2012 brought to light the fresco paintings and door frames from the late eighteenth century, before the castle’s neo-Gothic restyling. The last room in the wing probably housed Countess Sofia’s personal library. In the New Wing, mid-twentieth-century renovations completely erased the original architectural and decorative details to create service areas, leaving us only the original layout of the premises.

The Old Chapel occupies a central place in the castle’s architectural design. Thanks to restoration work, today we can admire the rich splendor of the colors and the optical illusions of the nineteenth-century trompe-l’oeil paintings.
