The Painting Studio
Overlooking the internal courtyard, Countess Sofia’s painting studio is one of the most enchanting corners of the castle, flooded with light from the large windows and with a stunning view of the Round Tower.
Restoration work has brought the room back to its original appearance, after it was transformed into a gloomy, windowless kitchen in the latter half of the twentieth century. Below the studio there was originally a woodshed, above, a covered terrace on the roof. The pastel shades of the original plastering can be seen on the walls, conserving the memory of a place at length steeped in colors and paints.
