- Deed of Gift between the donor Mr. Antonio Macello and the donee, his nephew, Mr. Gian Battista Macello, captain of the prestigious Queen’s Regiment (a historical infantry unit of the Royal Army established in 1839), dated August 26th, 1737, reproduction
The gift was made to enable Gian Battista Macello to find a “good match,” as happened when he married Eleonora Ricci di Casale in 1755.
In 1759, Macello changed the family name to Massel and later expanded his estate by purchasing the Marquessate of Caresana from the House of Savoy, thus becoming its first marquess.

Sofia and Emanuele’s father Luigi Cacherano di Bricherasio earned an undergraduate degree in Law from the “Royal University of Turin” on July 19th, 1852, at 4p.m., at the age of 24.
